Mark your calendars, Residents! On June 23rd, 2026, Second Life turns 23, and Linden Lab has confirmed that the celebrations for SL23B — the 23rd annual Second Life Birthday — will run from June 18th through July 19th, 2026. That's a full month of live music, performances, community exhibits, and grid-wide celebrations to mark another year of one of the most creative and enduring virtual worlds ever built.
This year's theme is one of the most evocative yet: The Golden Age of Hollywood. Think classic cinema, red carpets, vintage glamour, art deco interiors, screen icons, and the magic of the silver screen. Linden Lab has made it clear that, while the theme may inspire many builds and performances, exhibits are not required to follow it. Residents are still encouraged to share whatever makes their Second Life experience meaningful — their interests, their communities, and their creativity.
As in previous years, SL23B will feature several core attractions. The Shop & Hop, the official multi-region shopping event of the birthday celebration, brings together many of the platform's most talented creators, offering special releases, exclusive event gifts, and discounts of at least 20% on participating items. Setup for participating stores runs from June 5th to June 8th, with the event opening alongside the main celebration on June 18th.
There will also be community exhibits built by residents from across the grid, showcasing the depth and diversity of Second Life — from art installations and roleplay communities to nonprofits, interactive experiences, and personal projects. Stages across the SL23B regions will host DJs, live musicians, singers, dance troupes, theater groups, particle performers, lecturers, workshop hosts, and community storytellers, creating the lively atmosphere that makes the birthday celebration unforgettable.
The familiar "Meet the Lindens" sessions are also expected to return, giving residents a rare chance to chat directly with Linden Lab staff about the past, present, and future of Second Life. Adult-rated regions in the east of the main SLB area have been transformed in recent weeks, with new builds already taking shape ahead of the grand opening.
Whether you're a long-time resident who remembers SLB celebrations stretching back over a decade or someone who's never visited the birthday regions before, SL23B promises something for everyone. Roll out the red carpet, dust off your glamorous gowns and tuxedos, and get ready to step into the spotlight. Lights, camera, Second Life — see you in June!
