One of the most requested quality-of-life features for Second Life residents who juggle multiple groups is finally here: Region-based Group Titles, introduced in Firestorm 7.2.4.80712 (released June 1st, 2026).
This feature lets you assign a specific group (and group title) to automatically activate whenever you enter a particular region — perfect for keeping your VIP perks active, displaying the right group tag at your favourite store, or maintaining rezzing rights on your land, without having to manually switch every time.
✅ Step-by-step: How to set up automatic group switching by region
Step 1 — Open the Group Titles floater
Go to the top menu bar and navigate to:
Comm → Groups → Group Titles
Step 2 — Select the group title you want to assign In the floater, click on the group name/title you want to be active in a specific region. It will highlight to show it's selected.
Step 3 — Assign a region You have two ways to do this:
- This Region button: If you're already standing in the region you want to assign, simply click "This Region". Done!
- Type Region button: If you want to assign a region remotely (without being there), click "Type Region" and enter the region name manually.
Step 4 — Repeat for other regions You can assign different group titles to as many regions as you like. Each assignment is independent, so you could have Group A active in Region X, and Group B active in Region Y.
Step 5 (Optional) — Handle unassigned regions Enable the option "Set to 'none' in unassigned regions" if you want your active group tag to clear automatically in any region where you haven't made an assignment. This keeps things clean and avoids showing a group tag by default in places you haven't configured.
Step 6 — Removing an assignment If you ever want to remove a region from a group title, select the title in the floater and click "Clear Region".

- You can assign the same region to different titles within the same group if you have multiple roles.
- The switch happens automatically upon region crossing — no pop-ups, no manual action needed.
