I work with Firestorm viewer now and i had the same "problem" twice, well is not an important "problem" but it helps when you know whats going on and how to fix it.
Sometimes it seems i lose the lightning outlines it appears around objects when i select them.
This is important when i work because the outlines get me visual information if i'm selecting correctly even more if i'm working with faces or linked objects.
If you experience the same problem you can fix it going to menu: BUILD selecting OPTIONS and finally check the option : SHOW SELECTIONS OUTLINES.
You will get this automatic property again when you will select an object again.
